Product Description

1/35th scale

In developing this product, this offers the modeler an alternative to the plastic injected molded cables, picture hanging wire, and the string cables that have been used tn the past. Our TOW CABLES are real steel 7x7 cables with cast metal cable ends which represent 1” diameter cable in l/35 scale.

Two sets of CABLE ends are provided which can be glued on to create GERMAN CABLES. You will find that other combatant nations also used these CABLE ends. Consult your reference, as always. to determine which set of CABLE ends are appropriate for the vehicle that you are modeling.

It is recommended that you use one of Ihe cyanoacrylate glues to attach the CABLE ends to your CABLES. For example, photos will show that RUSSIAN TOW CABLES were generally short (8 feet or so) while some GERMAN TOW CABLES were much longer. You can cut our TOW CABLE with tin snipes or wire cutters. Try to get a nice clean cut; it will make it easier to glue the ends onto the CABLE, and will give a better appearance. Before gluing the CABLES to the CABLE ends, drill out the CABLE ends so that the CABLES fit into a shallow hole in the CABLE ends.

Hudson & Allen Studio TOW CABLES come finished in a rusty color and can be used as is. However, you can paint your Hudson & Allen TOW CABLES using any hobby paint currently available. A nice worn effect can be achieved by gently scraping off of certain areas of the CABLE and/or CABLE ends so that the bare metal shows through. This simulates wear. Don’t over do the bare metal effect as most TOW CABLES were rusty, dirty, oily and anything but shiny. If the CABLE is too springy, it may be annealed by heating it red hot and allowed to slosvly cool to room temperature. THIS SHOULD BE DONE UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION.
