Product Description

Mr. Black Publications - Scale Modelling Manual 16 - Step by Step Painting Flesh, Uniforms & Camouflage

This is the 16th issue in our series of Scale Modelling Manuals, where we set out to offer lots of information about painting and general modelling techniques for all modellers at a competitive price.

Up to now each manual has covered a specific topic in detail, and offered a lot of different approaches and techniques which, in most cases, were written by one author. Contents are carefully selected and presented so that every reader should find something new to try and to adapt to their own methods.

Each book features high quality photos and a detailed text so readers can easily follow the progress of the assembly and painting of each subject, and assist in adopting new modelling techniques and different approaches.

In previous editions the length of each theme was limited due to the number of pages taken for other features, but now there are no such limitations, no omissions or unanswered questions.

Depending on the theme and content, real painted colour chips of the hues and mixes have been added with information on how to use them.

This series will offer various modelling aspects, from Historic and Fantasy, Scale Models, Dioramas, Vignettes, Figures and Busts along with Painting and Modelling Techniques… Plus some historic subjects you can model.

This time Master Artist Ernesto Reyes Stalhuth explains in detail how he painted the Young Miniatures Bust (YM1886) of a 1/10th scale WWII Kampfgruppe Officer, Russia 1943 'Ostwind', Wearing a Splinter Pattern Camouflage Parka.

The artist presents a Painting Guide with 80 step-by-step photographs in exquisite detail with explanatory captions, as part of an overall total of 90 illustrations. Ernesto reveals all the secrets on how he painted the face (18 photos), the hand (7 photos), the cap and sweater (7 photos), the Splinter camouflage pattern (35 photos), binoculars and Sd.Kfz. plaque (9 photos), the map (5 photos) to achieve a realistic result. The artist used a combination of acrylic paints and acrylic inks. See how he managed to represent realistic flesh tones, the Splinter camouflage pattern, fabric, binoculars, map and much more…

Young B. Song was kind enough to send us all the high-resolution photos he had from the original box art painting by Kirill Kanaev. Although we don’t have detailed information about Kirill’s painting techniques, we decided to add some relevant bonus pictures of the Box Art as an addition to Ernesto’s detailed Step-By-Step painting article. Enjoy!

We must thank the following: Andrea Miniatures (Alexandra Fernandez), Vallejo Acrylics (Alex Vallejo), Kimera Kolors (Luca Marchetti and Pietro Balloni), Young Miniatures (Young B. Song), Lifecolor (Alessandro Balbo and Rolando Iezzi), Yannis Papadopoulos and last, but not least, our English Text Editor Ken Jones.
